Viagra Super Active (sildenafil) is a popular generic of Viagra which belongs to the group of PDE-5 inhibitors.

Mechanism of action

The action of these capsules is based on stimulating the flow of blood to the cavernous bodies of the penis. This happens due to a decrease in the activity of type 5 phosphodiesterase. The enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate, which is involved in the normal mechanism of erection. The suppression of PDE-5 by sildenafil and an increase in cGMP level stimulate the natural mechanism of erection against the background of sexual desire. Sildenafil is rapidly absorbed. Due to the capsule form of the drug, the effect is observed 40 minutes after taking the drug. Sometimes the effect is observed faster – after 30 minutes. The action lasts 4-5 hours, in some cases up to 7 hours.

The drug is used to treat erectile dysfunction of various etiologies.

Instructions for use

Viagra Super Active is taken orally. The daily dose of the drug is 1 capsule (100 mg). Take a capsule 40-60 minutes before sex, with water. Eating fatty foods is not recommended since the effect of the drug may occur later. The effect lasts up to 6 hours.

Side effects

In very rare cases, the drug causes the following side effects:

  • flushed face;
  • nausea, dizziness;
  • headache, diarrhea;
  • muscle pain
  • heart palpitations, etc.

Contraindications

Drug interactions

Do not combine Viagra Super Active with the following drugs:

  • erythromycin (increased amount of sildenafil in the blood);
  • cimetidine, ketoconazole (increased amount of sildenafil in the blood);
  • antianginal drugs – nitrates (the hypotensive effect is enhanced);
  • hypoglycemic drugs;
  • beta-blockers (the effect of hypotension increases);
  • agents that reduce the acidity of gastric juice (sildenafil is absorbed longer).

When using other drugs, you should inform your doctor about this before taking Viagra Super Active. It is not recommended to combine this drug with alcohol because of the additional risk of adverse reactions. When consuming large doses of alcohol, the risk of adverse reactions of the body increases. It is not advisable to drive after taking the drug, as it can cause dizziness and a shift in color perception in the blue range.
